Buzz Aldrin, 93, Eats Breakfast While Wearing Three Watches

Legendary NASA astronaut Buzz Aldrin has shared a new image of himself having a hearty breakfast.

The delicious-looking meal was meant to celebrate the 54th anniversary of the launch of Apollo 11, the historic moon landing that saw Aldrin and fellow astronaut Armstrong 'one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind'.

But what really caught our attention — besides Aldrin's borderline manic stare — is the fact that the 93-year-old space veteran is wearing not just one, but three wristwatches. Seriously, count them for yourself.

Aldrin has worn three watches over the years. According to a 2009 news article archived on his website, he wears two Omega watches – he is the brand ambassador for this watch – on one wrist, and a third on his other wrist.

"Look, you need an odd number (of clocks) to figure out which clock is which," Aldrin explained in the article. Can't argue with that logic.

He said, "We're not going to send an even number of people to Mars because then you can have a 50/50 disagreement."

According to Internet experts, in the photo posted on Sunday, Aldrin is wearing a commemorative Moon watch and an Omega Speedmaster X-33 Mortimer on his left wrist.

A closer look reveals that at least two watches on his left wrist are accurate after 9 a.m., within a few minutes of each other. However, exactly when this aligns with the time the photograph was taken is unclear.

In short, it looks like the eccentric newlywed really can't decide which timepiece she likes the most.
